Maunga teitei teacher

Kia Ora Whanau,

It is a privilege for me to have become part of this amazing team at Magnolia Tree Childcare Raglan.

I am originally from Montreal, Canada – which explains my unusual accent at times. However, prior to moving to NZ I lived in Vancouver for 8 years. During these years, I completed a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Care and Education at Capilano University, a diploma with infants and toddlers and a certificate as a art curriculum specialist.

I worked for the children’s centre affiliated with the university for 4 years, where I learned and experienced the full Reggio Emilia approach to education. Before entering NZ, I traveled Southeast Asia for 4 months and volunteered in Cambodia and Laos, Western Australia and learned about permaculture in Alice Springs.

As teachers, I believe that we must always seek new horizons and learning opportunities so that we can expend our thinking with the children. I also believe that education is about supporting children to think for themselves and to become creative thinkers and problem solvers. It is about learning to coexist in this world in various and complex ways that embrace indigenous knowledge, wisdom and cultures. I am excited to embark this journey with you all, can’t wait to connect!
